Please help with silent failure during installation of v3.4.1 on Ubuntu Linux

#1

Hello all,

Running the “musesdk-3.4.1-linux-installer.run” installer from the commandline (either as sudo or not) merely silently fails.

I read something about 64-bit OSes being a problem, but that was also a year ago, and the symptoms looked different. I have:

$ uname -a
Linux laptop 3.19.0-28-generic #30-Ubuntu SMP Mon Aug 31 15:52:51 UTC 2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Could anyone kindly assist?

Thank You,
RK

Hi RoseKatz,

That sounds like the same problem to me, actually. I’ve managed to get the SDK to install and work on 64bit Linux before, you just need to install some dependencies manually. To quote from another thread from a while back:

However, personally I’ve managed to get muse-io working on Ubuntu 64bit just by installing the correct 32bit dependencies. IIRC, I just used apt and installed:

  • zlib1g:i386
  • libc6-dev-i386
  • lib32stdc++6-4.7-dev
  • libbluetooth-dev:i386

This is on a small headless machine using a CSR Bluetooth 4.0 dongle for the Bluetooth connection, by the way. That may not be relevant, but I just thought I would mention it.
